Glee Camp 2013
Michelle Tuesday Music School held its third annual Glee Summer Music Camp the week of July 15, 2003. Our summer music camp students, who named themselves “Jem and the Holograms” after the 80’s cartoon featuring a rock-and-roll diva, worked hard all week learning the music and choreography to their popular lineup of songs. The song list was based on the Glee Camp “Let’s Have a Sleepover!” theme of the week:
- Somebody That I Used to Know (Gotye)
- Call Me Maybe (Carly Rae Jepsen)
- Never Getting Back Together (Taylor Swift)
- Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (Miley Cyrus)
The girls dressed in their jammies and entertained their audience with all the sass and pizzazz worthy of a group of girls at a sleepover. The choreography was killer and the vocals were confident and fun. We are very proud of our Glee Camp divas! Check out photos from MTMS Glee Camp 2013, below: Continue reading “Glee Camp 2013”
Rock Festival 2013 featuring youth band Apocalyptic Siren
Michelle Tuesday Music School in Gahanna, Ohio held its first annual Summer Rock Festival on Thursday, July 11th, with a final performance on the afternoon of Saturday, July 13th. Our group, who dubbed themselves “Apocalyptic Siren,” featured two drummers, which led to the selection of highly percussion-based rock songs for the final performance. Our hardworking music students had the opportunity to rotate through several instruments, including drums, tambourine, guitar, and bass, offering a fun variety for the kids. Lead singer Mason was naturally entertaining, and the entire crew devised and proposed to their instructors a rock-style introduction and welcome, featuring a cacophony of screaming and drumming, to kick off the final performance. All in all, it was a great day of fun and a rockin’ final concert. The lineup included:
- We Will Rock You by Queen
- Hey, Ho! by the Lumineers
- Rumour Has It by Adele

Summer Flute Festival 2013
Michelle Tuesday Music School held its first annual Summer Flute Festival on Monday, July 8th, with a final performance on the afternoon of Saturday, July 13th. The students worked hard throughout the festival on their performance pieces under the direction of Dr. Angela Heck Mueller and assistant director Audrey Rice, a first-year Ohio State music education major, former MTMS computer lab attendant, and long-time Gahanna resident and flutist. The highlight of the day was the flute repair and maintenance workshop, conducted by Clay Hammond of Hammond Flute Repair. The camp was made up of both existing MTMS music students and flutists new to the MTMS family, and the final performance, held outdoors on a beautiful, sunny day, was spectacular and uplifting.
Watch our website for upcoming flute festivals at MTMS, including a spooky Halloween-themed Fall Flute Festival in October, and a festive winter Holiday Flute Festival in December. Also consider enrolling in our ongoing Flute Choir or auditioning for our Advanced Flute Choir, both of which perform at most of our recitals and parties.
