Miss Kristen Hyatt is thrilled to be teaching at Michelle Tuesday Music School. Her love of music began in elementary school singing and playing instruments. She learned how to play flute throughout middle school and high school in Band, as well as taking private lessons from Ms. Leslie Maaser, Flute Professor at Denison University. After high school, Kristen went on to Capital University, where she studied with Flute Professor Dr. Lisa Jelle. During her time at Capital, she played flute in both Wind Symphony and Symphonic Winds under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey D. Gershman, as well as her woodwind quintet “Gone with the Woodwinds”. Miss Hyatt was one of the Music Librarians for Wind Symphony and Columbus Youth Symphonic Band, as well as one of the Operations Coordinators for The All City Orchestra. She also taught private lessons during her junior and senior year. For her student teaching semester, Kristen taught elementary general music and middle school band. She received her Bachelors of Music in Music Education in Spring of 2017. After her time at Capital, she went to Oberlin to substitute for six months for grades Preschool-2nd General Music. Today, she substitutes for music classes in Central Ohio. She loves to teach young people about the power of music.
