One Year!

As of yesterday, Michelle Tuesday Music School has been open for one year. We celebrated our anniversary with an Open House on Sunday afternoon, complete with games, raffles, prizes, and performances by students and teachers alike. We had a fantastic turnout, lots of great sign twirler and music performer volunteers, and good food. Check out the MTMS News Page for pictures and an article about the event.

A lot has happened in our first year. We’ve grown our faculty from five to fifteen teachers and added five computer lab attendants to our staff. We’ve increased our preschool music classes from one weekly class to five, and we’ve increased the number of private lesson students that walk through our door each week by more than two hundred. We doubled the size of our computer lab and added strings and brass to our instruction. We added two new student bands and launched a successful and fun summer camp program.

In the last year, our staff went through some changes, too. Both of our Dr’s became Mrs. Dr’s. Three of our instructors earned degrees. And several of our teachers landed positions in our local school districts, thanks to recent increases in community support for the arts in our school districts.

Stick around with us for the next year. We still have some exciting things coming. We plan to hire a receptionist within the next month or two who will be a familiar face to same and a new face to others, but just as friendly (and perhaps friendlier!) than Michelle and Chris, whom you are used to seeing each week behind the desk. We’ll hold our first annual formal recital at Otterbein’s Riley Auditorium in December. We will increase our computer lab to ten computers and add two new lesson rooms. Our lobby will be expanded and our computer lab relocated to a quieter corner of the studio.

And if all goes well, with your continued support, we hope to open a second location very soon. Thanks so much for helping us provide fun and supportive jobs for 22 Central Ohio workers. We love our customers, and we know we couldn’t do it without you. :-) You can’t stop the music!
