Michelle Tuesday Music School held its first annual Holiday Recitals at Potbelly, Gahanna this past weekend, on Saturday, December 11, and Sunday, December 12. Keep an eye on the News page for photos, which will be posted by the end of the week. But in the meantime, let’s talk about the performances and what they mean.

Every performer has to start somewhere. Do you think Taylor Swift was born with a guitar in her hand? Of course not. She took lessons. She took them from a private music studio in Pennsylvania. And at some point in her earlier childhood, she played – and sang – in front of an audience for the very first time.

Folks, our dreams are not handed to us on a silver platter. I promise you, Taylor practiced her guitar. She practiced singing. And she practiced performing. If you have a dream, devise a plan to get yourself there. Set small milestones for yourself, and then work hard to achieve them.

Congratulations to all the MTMS students who worked hard, practiced, and had the guts to perform in front of an audience for the very first time. Music lessons and performance build confidence, and whether you plan to rock the house in Nashville or be Speaker of the House in Washington, the more you practice performing, the easier it will get.  I guarantee it.
